Coleraine FC Academy U 11`s Team One played the Coleraine FC Academy U 12`s at the Crescent in a friendly. The Under 11`s started the game better than the U12`s and played some great flowing football dominating play in all areas. They nearly got a deserved lead early on Curtis Rodgers strike brilliantly saved by the U12`s keeper the ball then fell to Lewis Mitchell who shot over the bar. Curtis Rodgers again went close but the U12`s keeper saved again. The U12`s now started to compete and a good move down the right saw Tom Hegan called into action in the U11`s goal with a brilliant save. The two teams started to knock the ball around well and the U12`s caught out Andrew Black on the left and played the ball behind him and the pace of the winger took him clear to score a great goal 1-0.  With time running out in the half the U11`s pulled a goal back William Millar poking home from a corner. 1-1 Half Time.

The U11`s confident from their late goal started the second period well and were soon on the attack again Curtis Rodgers and Sheldon Woods were denied by 2 good saves by the impressive U12`s goalie. Tom Hegan in the U11`s goal was forced to make a couple of great saves to deny the U12`s. Then the breakthrough came when Lewis Ritchie smashed home from a fantastic through ball by the impressive Joshua McGregor to put the U11`s 2-1 up. At this stage the U12`s knew they had to improve to get something out of this game and to their credit they dug in and started to control the play and soon got their rewards with a goal to level at 2-2. Again they went forward and scored 2 quick goals in succession to go 4-2 up. The U11`s  pulled one back with 5 minutes left from Carl Platt tucking in Andrew Blacks cross from a great solo run 4-3. The U11`s sensing a comeback threw caution to the wind and went 3 at the back pushing William Millar forward to try and get the equalizer and the U12`s broke quickly and scored again 5-3 and from a corner near the end they scored to make the final score 6-3.

Well done to the both teams the game was closer than the score line suggests with some excellent football being played by the two squads a great advertisement for the Academy the strength and power of the U12`s shone through in the end.

Coleraine FC Academy v Oxford

The Academy under 12`s travelled to Oxford with a illness reduced squad,  to play the second leg of the NWCDYL cup. However they did manage to produced one of their best performances against what is undoubtedly the best team in their league age group if not the country. Having being heavily defeated previously by Oxford it was fair to say that they were always going to be up against it but they came away knowing that they have improved considerably this season and they will continue to do so. Conditions were extremely difficult for anyone to play football in, never mind under 12`s but despite going down to a goal against the run of play they showed great character in equalising from one of the best moves of the game. Jordan Alcorn picked the ball up on the halfway line and aided by a couple of Brandon Herald  tackles managed to carry the ball to the byline before dispatching a good cross which was met by Christie Moore who gladly fired home. One each at half time was an admiral score line but with the wind increasing and blowing directly at them, they were to find it difficult to clear their lines for the entire the second half.  Andrew Gawne made several good saves and was supported well by in defence by David Wilson and a heavily injured Mark McKeown. Oxford scored a further three goals to run out winners but an encouraging display from substitute Lukasl Shakowski and the usual captains performance from Stephen Johnson shows that with the entire squad at their disposal this age group will continue to improve.
Team: A.Gawne, D.Wilson, G.Black, M.McKeown, C. McNeill, J.Alcorn, S.Johnson, B.Herald, K.Millar, C.Moore, J.Kennedy, L.Shakowski, C.Boreland.
